The idea of the project was to enable positive interaction between the proposed new buidings and the buildings already existing in the vicinity. In addition, the central courtyard, the area of the future park, surrounded by present and future buildings, was a focus which implies the need for the activation of the formerly neglected space and need for a certain balance between the new environment and the future park.
In general, the whole area of the project is divided into two parts. The residential building on the north side is extended to the existing building in such a way as to form the robust facade towards Stepinčeva street. The new building, with its public functions, is situated on the south side of the area, thus visually suggesting the closure of the block.
At first sight, the closed volume of the public building turns into fluid space on the ground floor, tempts users from the street level, keeps them within so they could enjoy different things and then it subtly directs them onto the green area of the park. In such a way, the project achieves balance between the need for activation of the public park and functions of the new building.
